Restlessness then Exhaustion

I have now 5 more weeks. Starting last week, I kept getting bursts of energy. I couldn't seem to stay still. I think this was a mix of getting everything ready for Christmas and the anxiety of "the baby is almost here." This week, I have had sudden bursts of energy but now it's followed with complete exhaustion. My sister and I went shopping this afternoon, but when I got home - I had to just sit for a couple of hours. That is not me at all. I guess that's what happens in the last month. Is anyone else feeling like this?

Kandice, welcome to the last few weeks! I remember feeling just like that the last few weeks with my first. My best advice is just what all the books say - if you're tired, sit or lay down! Your body knows best - plus you want your body well-rested for when the baby comes. At my last job, they let me 'stretch out' a vacation day throughout the week. So the last 2 weeks before Cam was born, I worked 9am - 4pm. The extra time in the morning helped me feel more rested, and it was nice to get home in the evening before I was totally exhausted.

I have 8 weeks to go, and am starting to feel that 'nesting' phase where I want to get everything ready. I'm hoping it's contagious as I need my husband to get all his stuff out of what we hope will be the baby's room!

Kara,

Thanks for the advice. I guess I just feel "lazy" because I'm not used to being tired during the day. I know that you are right - that it's best to get the rest before the baby is born. I love the nesting phase - because it helps keep my mind and body busy - which then makes the time go by even faster.

I'm sure that the nesting phase will catch on with your husband. :) My husband has gone through some spurts - where he wants to help get stuff done around the house. We are getting there, but we have a few more things to do before I want to bring the baby home.

Well, I guess that's all for today. I'm glad that you are checking the blog. I love chatting with you all because you can relate. :)

I am almost 14 weeks and I am up and down all the time. I am trying to get myself to exercise more because I think that will give me more energy. I think alot of it has to do with my husband working nights so I just rest until he gets home...I guess that's lazy huh? HAHA. Kandice I cannot wait to meet my nephew Will

Kendra,

Yeah - early on, the energy does go up and down. I can't believe you are 14 weeks already! Yes - you will make a wonderful aunt. :) Well, it seems now a days, I have had a lot less energy. My mind just keeps telling me that I should be "doing" more, but my it takes a lot to get my body to actually get up and do it.
